Goodman & Taylor did what they had to do... but Amarri Jackson has the right idea - jump straight up and you won't have to worry about going over the boards. Gotta love the Arena Football League!

This week we prepare to face New Orleans for the second time. As usual I prepared film using vidswap and presented during meetings. The social media team presented Gladiators fans with highlights from last weeks game versus the Jacksonville Sharks. I learned that it does not matter if you lose you should always keep the fans informed through every outlet possible.

Game day operations are like organized chaos. I officially crossed the transaction wire with the league as Injured Reserve so I am ineligible to participate in the game. This weeks game featured the Gladiators wearing pink accessaries in honor the Breast Cancer Awareness. During training camp back in February various Gladiator players were able to do some green screen filming. The green screen is a video tool used to implement graphics in video recorded in a blank canvas. In the game we had popular players shout out cancer survivors in support of the effort. Unfortunately the Gladiators loss today versus the Sharks.
For further promotion of the upcoming contest between Jacksonville we searched for a fitting video in honor of the social medias "Throw-back-Thursday" trend. It was interesting sitting in on the process. The Gladiators had a history making 17-1 season last year so this video is used as a reminder of some of the nail bitters they were in.
Day two always focuses on mid field, so again I did the breakdown for that area via vidswap.com. In the contest versus Orlando I injured my knee, so for the next 3 weeks I will be sidelined. I have not officially went across league transactions yet, but I am interested in seeing my name processed. In order to gain some fan momentum for this weeks game against the Sharks we are streaming highgtlights throughout the gladiators Facebook page and website. Below is a clip of what is streaming.
This weeks contest versus the Jacksonville Sharks is going to be a tough one. The Sharks are having a rough start to their season with a record of 1-5. Completing the scouting report for the Gladiators morning meeting, the Sharks have a team full of All Arena athletes, the most elite in the AFL. They have made a lot of transactions in the short 6 weeks of our season, and it will be interesting to see what they are going to bring to the table. Today we worked on coming out, the area from the endzone to the -15 yard line. Since we are in week 6 of the season I only had to breakdown the Sharks most recent 3 games.
Today is travel day to Orlando. The Orlando Predators (Preds.) are owned by owner and founder of Westgate Resorts, David A Siegel. The visiting team is responsible for booking the travel while the home team supplies the hotel. It was very convenient for the Preds. to book our stay for the weekend. Today I learned about the travel booking process. Along with making film edits for the weekend meetings, the day of travel was a 4 hours. We scheduled pick ups two hours before our flight departs. At the airport we send an employee ahead to secure our group boarding passes. We travel around 30 or so people including staff so we are unable to charter a private flight but instead we fly commercial which further delays the process fairly often. When we arrived in Orlando, we were escorted to our resident via Orlando's traveling company. Today I started to learn more about transactions. Transactions are reports to the AFL and its members (team/franchises) stating daily or week moves the organization makes with their athletes. Transactions can be very confusing at times. Each organization is only allowed to have a total of 21 active roster members, 4 inactive (practice squad) members, and up to 6 or so injured reserve members. Every team is allotted two day workouts for free agents. Each free agent is allowed up to four days of practice with any franchise in the same week. Today the Cleveland Gladiators reported a total of six transactions, they placed one athlete on league suspension, one on inactive reserve, one on injured reserve, and assigned three to the roster. When an athlete is placed on injured reserve they are required to remain on that list a minimum of 4 weeks or until after week 9. If the athlete is removed from the injured reserve list, they will have to be waived by the franchise, allowing them to be assigned by the team with the highest claim order. Other duties completed today was midfield film breakdown of the Predators. |
