Today I worked on breaking down the midfield film of the Tampa Bay Storm. Midfield is considered to be from -15 yards to the +15 yard line. The midfield area is probably the most dangerous area during the game. Coaches believe that midfield is most dangerous because one has just enough distance from their opponents end zone and far enough distance from their own end zone to have the most creative offensive plays.
In most arena football games the offense rarely utilizes running plays, but in the midfield area, the unpredictability created allows for running the football to be an option. Teams may also try trick plays in this area. My job was to identify the most successful plays presented by the Storm, along with highlighting any trick plays I may discover.
